Be spontaneous, whether in front of the camera or behind the camera!

Most people who know me would say I’m a pretty measured and structured person. And while that may be true in many areas of my life, that all goes out the window when I have a camera in my hands.

I recently spent some time in St. Louis for a photography competition, and while I was there, I had the pleasure of meeting Mia, the venue's manager. As soon as we talked, I could tell she had great energy about her, so I asked if she had a few minutes for me to take a few shots. She happily agreed, and we ended up capturing some fantastic moments together.

These spontaneous connections and the chance to capture someone's essence remind me why I love photography so much. Sometimes, the best shots come from those unplanned moments when you’re just letting the camera guide you.
